Hi Jim, Richard Tees was contacted by the daughter of an old
Army pal who served with him in Burma. He unfortunately died not long after he
was demobed from the Carbs. His daughter was 5 when they left Tidworth for Civvy
street but she still has lots of memories of living in married quarters there,
some of the family names she remembers are The Baltens, the Wilkinsons the
McNabb, and the Duff families, something else that may jog a few memories they
lived near or in Kandaha Block. She is trying to find out as much about her
dad as she can I have pointed her to the MOD for his records and other stuff.
However she would like to hear from the people who knew him/them. She has sent
me two photo,s of her Dad Dennis Lees taken at a party in Tidworth I have
scanned them and am including them with this note. It feels odd to ask for
information about a guy who was leaving the Army when I was only 2 years
old. So if you have time and space, I know that the bulk of those on the site
may also be youngsters like us but they may know older Carbs that they could
ask, lets hope we can find some one who can fill in the gaps for her. I think
some time ago we put a photo of the Regimental Hocky team from Tidworth circa
1949-50 on the site well he Dennis Lees is the guy sitting behind the
cup in the center of the bottom row. Just for added information his wife is
still alive and his son joined the Junior Leaders and then The Royal Scots
Dragoon Guards.
